Gutierrez (8-2 pro MMA) hails from Lansing, Mich., where he trains under the Murcielago MMA and Primed Combat banners. Most recently, Gutierrez defeated Tim Eschtruth in October of 2022 via first-round TKO at WXC 88.
Following that win, Gutierrez, who competes at bantamweight (135 pounds), accepted an invite to the UFC’s hit reality show, where he will compete as part of the highly anticipated McGregor vs. Chandler season.
The show debuts Tuesday, May 30, at 10 PM on ESPN+.
Ahead of the finale, however, Gutierrez will enter the 247 Fighting Championships cage –– to grapple.
And he has one heck of a test in front of him with Gathers.

A purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu out of Eight Point Focus with 17 pro MMA fights to his name (9-8), Gathers has seen it all inside the cage. He’s all action, all the time, and if Gutierrez thinks he’s coming to Pittsburgh for a casual grappling matchup, he’s got another thing coming with Gathers.
I mean, Gathers’ nickname is “The Madman.” This is going to be an absolute dogfight, and fans will want to make sure they’re seated and ready for action when the lights go down inside the Monroeville Convention Center.
Making the moment even more special, Sprawl in the Burgh marks 247 Fighting Championships’ first-ever grappling super fights show.
The event features a stacked lineup of no-gi, submission-only matches taking place inside the 247 FC cage just one day before Brawl in the Burgh 17 on Saturday, July 15.
Sprawl in the Burgh is headlined by a high-profile matchup between top-ranked black belts PJ Barch (10th Planet) and Dante Leon (Adamas Jiu-Jitsu) at 170 pounds.
