Johnstown, PA – The 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial will play host to the fourth ever mixed martial arts (MMA) event in Johnstown history this Saturday, May 14, as Pittsburgh-based promotion 247 Fighting Championships returns.

Flood City Fight Night 2 marks the promotion’s second venture into Johnstown, after debuting in August of 2021.

Flood City Fight Night attendees were treated to a great night of action that saw every aspect of what makes MMA so popular, from stand-up wars to wild grappling exchanges and everything in between. It was a night that saw fights go to the judges’ scorecards, fights ended via submission, and fights finished via knockout.

Now, FCFN2 looks to bring another action-packed card to a town that hasn’t had much MMA action as of late.

MMA made its Johnstown debut in 2012 when Complete Devastation MMA came to the Flood City. It was the fourth event for the since-extinct Altoona-based promotion, which put on 11 total shows from 2011-2015. It never returned to Johnstown.

Following that, Johnstown’s second MMA show occurred two years later when Pittsburgh-based Gladiators of the Cage took over the War Memorial. It was GOTC’s ninth out of 20 total shows, and they too were one and done in Johnstown.

GOTC ran shows in the Pittsburgh metro area from 2011 to 2016.

The next time MMA visited Johnstown was not until this past August –– Aug. 21, 2021 –– for Flood City Fight Night.

This Saturday, Flood City Fight Night 2 becomes the first time in Johnstown history that an MMA promotion returns for a second show.

“Our first show was a pleasant surprise, as we didn’t expect to see as many people in attendance as we entered a new, smaller market,” stated Hunter Homistek, General Manager of 247 Fighting Championships. “The fans showed up and were treated to an awesome night of fights. In fact, I regularly cite that show as a highlight of 247 Fighting Championships’ run to date. We expect no less from Johnstown on Saturday night.”

Ryan Middleton, owner of 247 Fighting Championships, showed a commitment to Johnstown that hasn’t existed previously.

“Both previous shows [in Johnstown] were one and done,” Middleton said. “We loved coming to Johnstown. The venue is legendary, and the people were the highlight of the event. We love Johnstown and we are exploring returning on a regular basis.”

While no return date has been set, there is optimism that Johnstown will become a regular event spot for this thriving promotion.

Tickets for Saturday’s show are available now at 247fighting.com and will also be available at the gate.
