Justin Patton is one of the most exciting fighters in Pittsburgh. Period.

And yeah, we know that’s saying a lot. But Justin routinely fights the best guys available each and every time. Now, his pro career is well underway, and he’ll make that walk for the second time as a professional at Brawl in the Burgh 10 Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Monroeville Convention Center.

So who is Justin Patton? Let’s learn a little bit about “The General.”

How long have you been training? What is your background?

I’ve been training for nine years, and I train everything: grappling , striking –– all disciplines I can. 

What are your goals in MMA? In life?

To make it to a major organization and go on a good run.

Do you watch UFC? Bellator? Any other organizations?

Yes, I watch UFC, Bellator, PFL, and some other organizations. I love this sport. 

Who is your favorite fighter?

It’s tough to pick one. Charles Oliveria, Max Holloway , Yair Rodriguez, and Tony Ferguson are a few of them. 

Do you have a full-time or part-time job? What is it?

I work at The Academy of Martial Arts, run by Khama Worthy. 

Who has made the biggest personal impact on your MMA career?

Well, first off, Khama Worthy for getting me in the gym. Then my coaches: Dave Sachs, Isaac Greeley, and Chris Williams. 

Who has made the biggest impact on your personal life?

My mom. I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for her –– for multiple reasons, not just the obvious.

What game do you dominate when you play it? Details.

I’m super competitive, so any game I play, I always wanna win. I can’t narrow it down to one. 

What scene from a movie impacted you or scarred you for life?

Jeepers Creepers in general. I watched it with my cousins when I was younger, and it scarred me. That’s one guy I don’t want to ever fight. 

What, besides wealth, do you never have enough of?

Love and Violence.

What decision do you regret the most?

Tapping in my last fight. *laughs*

Nothing good. That’s for sure. 

Other than MMA and combat sports, what is your favorite sport?

Hockey –– they fight sometimes. 

Advice you would give to someone aspiring to compete in MMA?

Stay the course and don’t get distracted by hiccups along the way.
